071 – Sneaking Out

SNEAKING OUT – Glen Hartle

The throttle softens and
with furtive steps I survey
the aftermath with other
like-minded isolationists.

Finding little physical evidence
to fuel fear, I lower my mask
to at least touch normalcy;
quickly setting it back in place

in case someone captures the moment –
happy with even the slightest
truancy suggesting that
free will was not also a casualty.

This slightly obscured future
is beautiful and with selective
positivity, I sneak back
whence I came.
