039 – Conviction

CONVICTION – Glen Hartle

I gaze through the
window at me of yesterday
where I was looking

out the opposite window,
pandering to pity
and clucking at the world.

Sleeping in and
submitting to boredom
were my rights and

watching the sun rise,
a convenience.
As I watch from

where I am now living
what used to be the news,
I struggle to exhale;

for the rising inflation of time
is chasing me through one
of the windows.
